A Call to Saturday Evening Prayer

As part of our daily rhythm of Prayer and Devotion you are invited to pause and pray with others as your day closes.

You may want to revisit the Daily Devotions for today from JOHN 14 vs 15-31 and chew over what Jesus says here.

You may need to name others before Father God.

You may want to be still with our God as you look back on your day and prepare to step into Sunday.

Pause to Pray with Others

On this particular Saturday..as the nation journeys through this further stage of Lockdown.. you are invited to pause and pray with others in our city and across the nation…to the LORD our God, our Father God.

You are encouraged to pray for all those affected by the coronavirus

For family and friends

For all who are anxious in our city at this time

For NHS and Care Home staff in our city

For our country and our national leaders at this time of decision making

Thy Kingdom Come #Pentecost

As part of God’s Church we have participated in the global prayer venture of Thy Kingdom Come each year. This runs during the 11 days between Ascension and Pentecost…..and this year it will happen May 13th-23rd.

Each Saturday at 12 noon we are continuing to ask and seek and knock on Heaven’s door…..’Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done’…..and to pray for up to 5 people we know to meet with Jesus and to experience God’s Kingdom reign in their lives.

This week we focus on the theme of PENTECOST as we pause to pray with others.

We are encouraged to pause and take time with the LORD our God on this particular Saturday in January 2021.
To cry out for a fresh outpouring of the Spirit in our times…on our nation…on the Church…into our lives…

To ask…..seek…..knock…..wait…..listen…..receive from Him.

Thy Kingdom Come O God!!

Daily Devotions for Saturday 23rd January, 2021

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God, the Holy Spirit

Reading : JOHN 14 verses 15-31

Meditation : take the time to consider these words from Jesus this Saturday morning.
The promise of the Holy Spirit.
What are you encouraged and challenged by?
Which words stay with you as your day starts?

And then take time to Pray in response to this God of ours

Spirit of the Living God fall afresh on me
Break me
Melt me
Mould me
Fill me
Use me
Even now and this day
Spirit of the Living God fall afresh on us
Amen we pray together this new day.

Midday

Pray the Lord’s Prayer as your midday prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
Now and for ever
Amen

Evening

Reading : read the verses again from JOHN 14
Reflect on the words…. and then Pray in response to what you have read

LORD God, our God, hear our evening prayers.
As we worship you for who you are – Three in One
As we thank you for your help this day
And name others we love and care for before you
In Jesus’ name, Amen
.
