Daily Devotions for Sunday December 13th, 2020

Third Sunday in Advent

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from the Living God

Reading : 1 CORINTHIANS 15 verses 1-11

Meditation : take time and consider these words this Sunday morning.
The Resurrection of Christ.
What words or images stay with you?
What encourages and challenges you today?

And then pray in response to the LORD our God

O LORD our God,
Great and Powerful One,
Living God,
Great and so worthy of praise.
We bow before You.
We lay our lives before You.
O fill us with this resurrection hope afresh
Today and Tomorrow!
In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Midday
Pray the Lord’s Prayer as your own midday prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
Now and for ever
Amen

Evening
Reading : read these verses again from 1 CORINTHIANS 15
Reflect on all that is said here in this part of the chapter and then Pray in response to God

O LORD, our Living God,
Hear our evening prayers we ask
As we thank you for what we read
As we look back over our day
As we look ahead to tomorrow
As we name before you those we are concerned about.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Call to Saturday Evening Prayer

As part of the Kirk’s rhythm of prayer and devotion we invite people to pause and pray each day.

We offer a Daily Devotions Bible reading each morning and a focus for midday prayer.

At this time in your Saturday you are invited to pause and pray as the day closes and as you step into Sunday with others

You may wish to revisit MATTHEW 28.16-20 and consider what Jesus said here.
You may need to name others before Father God.
You may want to be still with God as you look back on your day.

A Time to Pray with Others

At this time in your Saturday and in these changing times you are invited to pause and pray with others in our city and across the nation…to the LORD our God, our Father God.

You are encouraged to pray for all those affected by the coronavirus

For family and friends

For children and young people in our city at this time

For NHS and Care Home staff in our city

For our country and our national leaders at this time

Thy Kingdom Come #offer

As part of God’s Church we participated in the global prayer venture of Thy Kingdom Come earlier this year. This ran during the 11 days between Ascension and Pentecost….many months ago now!

Each Saturday at 12 noon we are continuing to ask and seek and knock on Heaven’s door…..’Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done’…..and to pray for up to 5 people we know to meet with Jesus and to experience God’s Kingdom reign in their lives.

This week we focus on the theme of OFFER as we pause to pray with others.

We are encouraged to take time to bring our words to the LORD our God

We offer to Him

our time

our talents

our monies

For His Kingdom purposes
In Jesus’ name….Amen
