A Call to Tuesday Midday Prayer

You are invited at this time in your day to pause and pray

You may want to be still in God’s refreshing presence

You may need to name others before Father God

You may find it helpful to use the prayers we would usually use at this time in the Upper Room each Tuesday

Daily Devotions for Tuesday 20th April, 2021

Upper Room day – time-out with God

Morning

Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from Father God

Reading : PHILIPPIANS 1 verses 18-21

Meditation : consider this passage this morning
‘.…by means of your prayers….’
What is God saying to you today from this passage?
What is your response to Him today?

Take time to Pray in response to the LORD our God
Resting in Him as you step into this day

In Jesus’ Name
Amen.

Midday
Take time to listen for God to speak with you at this time of day
‘Thy Kingdom come’ Father God
LORD our God…thank you.

Evening
Reading : read the short passage again from PHILIPPIANS 1
Reflect on Paul’s words…. And then pray to this Jesus in response

Lord Jesus, Son of God,
Hear our evening prayers,
As we return our thanks to you.
As we look back on our day
As we trust you for tomorrow
As we rest in You this evening
Amen and Amen.

Pause to Pray with Others

On this particular Monday…as the nation journeys forward with hope in this season of Lockdown.. you are invited to pause and pray with others in our city and across the nation…to the LORD our God, our Father God.

You are encouraged to pray for all those affected by the coronavirus

For family and friends

For all who live in your street at this time

For NHS and Care Home staff across the nation

For our country and our national leaders at this time of decision making

Time Out in a Changing Lockdown

As a Church we usually set aside a Tuesday each week and provide a place with space – the UPPER ROOM – a place for time-out in these busier days. In these weeks and months of lockdown 2021 it has not been possible once again to open and run this space….for the moment anyhow…..all going well Tuesday 4th May will see that change!

However, this Tuesday instead of visiting the Upper Room you are encouraged to pause where you are…..and tarry a while with God, maybe a bit longer than usual……to wait…ask…seek…receive….in this season when lockdown is a-changing bit by bit.

* Find a space to be still in a busy world
** For a regular time-out during this month
* Private prayer for yourself and for others
** Listening to God – Father Son and Holy Spirit

You are invited to share in the Midday Prayers and Evening Prayers that will be posted online at 12noon and 9pm on various days on the Kirk website and on our social media pages. We are also encouraged to pray with others in our city and across our land at 6pm….focussing on all those affected by the coronavirus…..and during these particular weeks you are invited to join with others and pray for all those affected afresh by the new coronavirus restrictions.

You are encouraged to take some exercise by the Government..and we would invite you to take a walk around the Kirkyard and consider what God is saying to you at this time from the words displayed from JOHN 3.
