Time Out in a Changing Lockdown

As a Church we usually set aside a Tuesday each week and provide a place with space – the UPPER ROOM – a place for time-out in these busier days. In these weeks and months of lockdown 2021 it has not been possible once again to open and run this space….for the moment anyhow…..all going well Tuesday 4th May will see that change!

However, this Tuesday instead of visiting the Upper Room you are encouraged to pause where you are…..and tarry a while with God, maybe a bit longer than usual……to wait…ask…seek…receive….in this season when lockdown is a-changing bit by bit.

* Find a space to be still in a busy world
** For a regular time-out during this month
* Private prayer for yourself and for others
** Listening to God – Father Son and Holy Spirit

You are invited to share in the Midday Prayers and Evening Prayers that will be posted online at 12noon and 9pm on various days on the Kirk website and on our social media pages. We are also encouraged to pray with others in our city and across our land at 6pm….focussing on all those affected by the coronavirus…..and during these particular weeks you are invited to join with others and pray for all those affected afresh by the new coronavirus restrictions.

You are encouraged to take some exercise by the Government..and we would invite you to take a walk around the Kirkyard and consider what God is saying to you at this time from the words displayed from JOHN 3.

Daily Devotions for Monday 19th April, 2021

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from Jesus, Saviour and Lord

Reading : PHILIPPIANS 1 verses 3-11

Meditation : take time to consider this opening part of Paul’s letter.
‘I pray with joy…’
What does this mean for you in your life?
Who are you praying for with joy at this time?

Pray in response to what you have read
Looking again at verses 9-11 as you turn to pray for others

In and through Christ Jesus we pray together, Amen.

Midday
Pray God’s blessing on OPEN DOORS at work in Nigeria in these days
O LORD, hear our prayers and use them real good we ask – even today.

Evening
Reading : read these words again from PHILIPPIANS 1.3-11
Reflect on the words here and then Pray in response for others

Use verses 9-11 in your evening prayer

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Call to Sunday Evening Prayer

You are invited to pause and pray at this time in your day

You may want to revisit the Daily Devotions for today – and consider again EPHESIANS 6 vs 19 and 20

You may need to name others before Father God

You may want to be still with God as you look back on your Sunday

Daily Devotions for Sunday 18th April, 2021

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from the Living God

Reading : EPHESIANS 6 verses 19 and 20

Meditation : take time to consider these words from Paul on this Sunday.
‘And pray also for me…..’

And then pray in response
Praying for our Leadership Team
Our Kirk Session
And all preparing to speak God’s message in our city today.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen and Amen!

Midday
Pray the Lord’s Prayer as your own midday prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
Now and for ever
Amen

Evening

Reading : read these two verses again from EPHESIANS 6
Reflect on the words from Paul and then Pray in response at the end of your day

O LORD,
We bring our evening sacrifice of praise to you
For who you are
As we acknowledge You our Help even this day.
As we name others in leadership in our Church
As we pray for all corners of our world
To know of Jesus.
In His saving name, Amen.
