Tuesday Upper Room Prayers

As a Church we usually set aside a Tuesday each week and provide a place with space – the UPPER ROOM – a place for time-out in our busy days above the Kirkgate Cafe. This is a safe place, and COVID-19 guidelines are carefully followed.
Please do remember face coverings as you enter the Kirkgate Centre and social distancing please….for now.

As we journey further into 2022, the Upper Room will be open this Tuesday 7.30am-7.30pm – and perhaps this will be a place for you to visit – as a place to pause and pray in particular for the situation in Ukraine and our world at this time. You may wish to add your prayer to the Prayer Tree – or to the Prayer Wall on the website.

* To find a quiet space to be still in a busy world
** To pause and pray with God – the God of all comfort, wisdom, mercy and hope
* To listen to God – Father Son and Holy Spirit – in these slower days and moments

There will be opportunities to pause and pray with others – at 8am – 12 noon – 7pm – and John and those who gather will be glad to share these with you as we turn in prayer with others.

The Offering House will be open this week – do have a look in and see the Word For Today focus on words from Romans chapter 8….before it changes!

You are also invited to use the bench at the top left of the Kirkyard (under the large tree – weather permitting) to pause and pray – to be still with God – to ask, seek, knock, wait and receive.

You are also reminded of the Prayer Wall available on the Kirk website under the Prayer tab – a place you can bring your prayers – and ask for prayer from the Prayer Team if appropriate. At this time of unrest across Europe and the fresh cases of coronavirus you may wish to add your own prayer.

The Daily Devotions are taking us to a daily time of considering God’s Good News with God’s written Word in the book of ROMANS – as we consider the perfect sacrifice of Jesus in this season as we draw nearer to Easter – and you may want to pause to pray with others at the start of each day. This is available on the Kirk website blog and our social media pages on Facebook and Twitter from 7am- and in the church magazine.

And – don’t forget the brief Sunday morning Reflection at 8am…..and the trypraying booklet challenge from David Hill!

May we each and all experience time-out with the Living and True God – whenever – wherever – as we journey through these days of Lent 2022.

Sunday Evening Prayer with Others

As we journey through Lent – with God – together – you may want to revisit today’s Daily Devotions from ROMANS 2 verse 2 – as we consider the Good News of Jesus

We PAUSE with the Lord in prayer

We REJOICE in the blessings He has given this day – to us and to others

We ASK for His presence, peace and strength – for ourselves and for others in our world at this time

We YIELD – say Yes – to His Kingdom ways for tomorrow

Pause to Pray for Others

On this Sunday in Lent…as the nation and the world wrestles with the virus and vaccine supplies…and the crisis in Ukraine is a major concern before us in our world … you are invited to pause and continue to pray with others in our city and across the nation…to the LORD our God, our Father God.

You are encouraged to continue to pray for all those affected by the coronavirus – in our community, in our nation and in our world – and for all those in need on our Church Prayer List at this time – and for parts of the world in turmoil at this time

For family and friends and neighbours affected by the coronavirus

For Church leaders across our world at this time

For NHS and Care Home staff across the nation

For those who are hurting in body, mind and spirit at this time

Thy Kingdom Come – at Midday

As a Church we were part of the global prayer venture – Thy Kingdom Come.

This prayer continues around the world!
Thy Kingdom Come 2022 prayer venture will be running 26 May – 5 June.

Each Sunday at Midday we are re-visiting one of the 11 daily themes….and this time we revisit the first theme of JESUS and pointing others to Him.

Daily Devotions for Sunday 3rd April, 2022

5th Sunday of Lent

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from the Living God

Reading : ROMANS 2 verse 2

Meditation : take time and consider these words this Sunday morning.
God’s Judgment
What is your response to this verse today?

And then pray in response to the LORD our God
Pray your own Sunday morning prayer

O LORD our God,
Hear our prayers
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Midday
Pray the Prayer for the Month as your own midday prayer

When I survey the wondrous cross
Praise the name of Jesus!

For God so loved the world
How deep the Father’s love!

There is a Redeemer, God’s own Son
Thank you, O my Father!

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast
Save in the death of Christ my God

When I stand in glory
I will see his face,
And there I’ll serve my King for ever
In that holy place.

Amen and Amen!

Evening
Reading : read these words again from ROMANS 2 verse 2
Reflect on what is said here in this particular verse
and then Pray in response to this God we believe in

O LORD, our Just God,
Hear our evening prayers we ask
As we thank you for what we read
As we look back over our day
As we look ahead to tomorrow
As we name before you those we are concerned about.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
