Daily Devotions for Sunday 17th October, 2021

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from the Living God

Reading : MATTHEW 1 verses 22 and 23

Meditation : take time to consider these words as we pause with God, the One who is with us.

And then pray in response,
Giving thanks for Jesus
Naming others in need of Immanuel with them

In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Midday

Pray the Prayer for the Month as your own midday prayer

We rejoice in your love, O God!

We rejoice in your care, O Father God!

We rejoice in your saving grace, O Lord!

We rejoice in your good gifts, O merciful Lord!

We rejoice!
We give thanks!
We worship you!

With our words and songs of praise!

In Jesus’ name
Amen and Amen.

Evening
Reading : read these two verses again from MATTHEW 1
Reflect on the words and then Pray in response at the end of your day

O LORD, our God Immanuel,
We bring our evening sacrifice of praise to you
For who you are
As we acknowledge You our Help even this day.
As we name others in need
As we pray for the Church in all corners of our world
To sing and speak of this Jesus.
In His saving name, Amen.

Tuesday Tuesday

As a Church we usually set aside a Tuesday each week and provide a place with space – the UPPER ROOM – a place for time-out in our busy days above the Kirkgate Cafe. This is a safe place, and COVID-19 guidelines are carefully followed.

This Tuesday the Upper Room will be open 7.30am-7.30pm – and perhaps this will be a place for you to visit – for the first time?

* To find space to be still in a busy world
** To pause and pray with God – for yourself and for others
* To listen to God – Father Son and Holy Spirit – in these slower days and moments

There will be opportunities to pause and pray with others – at 8am – 12 noon – 7pm – and John and others will be glad to share these with you.

You are also invited to take a meaningful walk around the Kirk building…….starting at the Offering House….which is open for you to visit….and has an interesting exhibition inside!
We would invite you to take a walk around the Kirkyard and consider what God is saying to you at this time from the words displayed at various locations from Psalm 25.
You are invited to use the bench at the top left of the Kirkyard (under the large tree) to pause and pray – to be still with God – to ask, seek, knock, wait and receive.

You are also reminded of the Prayer Wall available on the Kirk website under the Prayer tab – a place you can bring your prayers – and ask for prayer from the Prayer Team if appropriate.

The Daily Devotions have been taking us to a daily time of pausing to rejoice with God’s written Word in October – and you may want to pause to pray at the start of each day. This is available on the Kirk website blog and our social media pages on Facebook and Twitter from 7am- and in the church magazine.
And – don’t forget the brief Sunday morning Reflection at 8am…

Thy Kingdom Come at Midday

As a Church we were part of the global prayer venture – Thy Kingdom Come.

This prayer continues around the world!

Each Sunday at Midday we will re-visit one of the 11 daily themes.
This week it is CELEBRATE – as we are encouraged to count our blessings and celebrate God’s good gifts to us!

Daily Devotions for Friday 8th October, 2021

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from Jesus

Reading : PSALM 18 verses 1-29

Meditation : consider this first half of the psalm this morning.
What did David have to rejoice for?
What is God teaching/reminding you today?

And then Pray in response – as God leads you
Pray with rejoicing to Him!

Amen – we pray together.

Midday
We give thanks for those who work with our children and youth
Father God, hear our prayers, have mercy and bless them real good we ask.

Evening
Reading : read this passage again from PSALM 18
Reflect on the words you have just read and pray in response

Lord Jesus, hear our evening prayers as we respond to these words
Thank you thank you for all the ways you have helped me thus far in life
I ask you to give a blessing to those in need this evening .
Amen.
