Daily Devotions for Saturday 22nd August, 2020

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God, the Holy Spirit

Reading : PSALM 101 verse 6

Meditation : take the time to consider these words this Saturday morning.
What are you encouraged and challenged by?
Who are you grateful for in your life at this time?

And then take time to Pray in response to this God
As you name others who serve us at LK
As you name others who are struggling at this time

Amen we pray together this morning

Midday
Pray the Prayer for the Month as your midday prayer

As we consider being “fearfully and wonderfully made” in Your image God, we think of what makes us special. Our five physical senses which enable us to experience joy, pleasure, and wonderment, at your creation Also, we, like you, have knowledge, understanding and wisdom.
Most of all our heavenly father you have imbued us with love, that deep sense of care and empathy which raises us above your creation.
We receive your love to dispense your love, may we continue to do so in Jesus name. Amen

Evening
Reading : read the verse again from PSALM 101

Reflect on the words…. and then Pray in response to what you have read

LORD God, our God, hear our evening prayers.
As we worship you for who you are
As we thank you for your help this day
And name others before you
In our lives
In our family
In our Church Family
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Call to Saturday Evening Prayer

I will sing of your love and justice, Lord.
I will praise you with songs.
I will be careful to live a blameless life—
when will you come to help me?
I will lead a life of integrity
in my own home.
I will refuse to look at
anything vile and vulgar.
I hate all who deal crookedly;
I will have nothing to do with them.
I will reject perverse ideas
and stay away from every evil.
I will not tolerate people who slander their neighbours.
I will not endure conceit and pride.
I will search for faithful people
to be my companions.

Words from this morning’s Daily Devotions as we journey into Sunday – PSALM 101

Thy Kingdom Come

As a Church we took part in the global prayer venture of Thy Kingdom Come earlier this year.
This ran during the 11 days between Ascension and Pentecost.

Each Saturday at 12 noon we are continuing to ask and seek and knock on Heaven’s door…..’Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done’…..and to pray for up to 5 people we know to meet with Jesus and to experience God’s Kingdom reign in their lives.

This week we focus on the theme of THY KINGDOM COME as we pause to pray with others.
We are invited to spend time with the LORD our God….asking…..receiving…..

Our Father God

Thy Kingdom Come

In our lives

In the lives of those we name before You

In our city

In our nation

In this world

As it is in heaven

We ask in Jesus’ name

Amen!

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God, the Holy Spirit

Reading : PSALM 101 verse 4

Meditation : take time to consider this one verse this morning.
What is God saying to you today from His Word?
What is your response – the same as the psalmist?

And then Pray in response
Make the words of this verse part of your morning prayer today

O God,
Hear my morning prayer
And have mercy
As I lay myself
And others
And this day
Before you
In Jesus’ name.
Amen

Midday

As we consider being “fearfully and wonderfully made” in Your image God, we think of what makes us special. Our five physical senses which enable us to experience joy, pleasure, and wonderment, at your creation Also, we, like you, have knowledge, understanding and wisdom.

Evening
Reading : read these words again from PSALM 101.4 at the end of your day

Reflect on these words as you look back over the day and then Pray in response

LORD God, our God, hear our prayers this evening
As we return our thanks to You for your help and protection
As we name others who struggle at this time
As we trust you for tomorrow
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
