Daily Devotions for Saturday 27th February, 2021

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God, the Holy Spirit

Reading : PSALM 18 verses 46-50

Meditation : take the time to consider these words of praise this Saturday morning.
What are you encouraged and challenged by?
Which words stay with you as your day starts?

And then take time to Pray in response to this God
Make these words your own

The LORD lives! Praise my defender!
Proclaim the greatness of the God who saves me.
He gives me victory over my enemies;
he subdues the nations under me
and saves me from my foes.
O LORD, you give me victory over my enemies
and protect me from violent people.
And so I praise you among the nations;
I sing praises to you.

Amen we pray in praise together this new day.

Midday

Pray the words of the Lord’s Prayer as your own prayer today

Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
Now and for ever
Amen

Evening
Reading : read the set verses again from Psalm 18
Reflect on the words…. and then Pray’n’Praise in response to what you have read

The LORD lives! Praise my defender!
Proclaim the greatness of the God who saves me.

And so I praise you among the nations;
I sing praises to you.

LORD God, our God, hear our evening prayers.
As we worship you for who you are
As we thank you for your help this day
And name others in need of your help before you
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pause to Pray with Others

On this particular Saturday..as the nation journeys through this further stage of Lockdown.. you are invited to pause and pray with others in our city and across the nation…to the LORD our God, our Father God.
We are now pausing to pray at 6pm each day instead of 5pm as a result of the fresh Call to Prayer yesterday across the nation and the world from the Thy Kingdom Come prayer venture.

You are encouraged to pray for all those affected by the coronavirus

For family and friends and neighbours

For all children and young people in our villages and towns and cities at this time

For NHS and Care Home staff across the nation

For our country and our national leaders at this time of decision making

Thy Kingdom Come #sorry

As part of God’s Church we have participated in the global prayer venture of Thy Kingdom Come each year. This runs during the 11 days between Ascension and Pentecost…..and this year it will happen May 13th-23rd.

Each Saturday at 12 noon we are continuing to ask and seek and knock on Heaven’s door…..’Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done’…..and to pray for up to 5 people we know to meet with Jesus and to experience God’s Kingdom reign in their lives.

This week we focus on the theme of SORRY as we pause to pray with others in our nation and across the world.

We are encouraged to pause and take time with the LORD our God on this particular Saturday in February 2021.
To confess our sins

Words said that should not have been spoken
Words that should have been said

Actions done that should not have been
Actions not done

Thoughts that should not have been thought
Thoughts that should have been thought

And to receive God’s forgiveness and cleansing and renewing

Daily Devotions for Saturday 20th February, 2021

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God, the Holy Spirit

Reading : PSALM 18 verses 30-36

Meditation : take time to consider these verses this morning.
The LORD alone is God; God alone is our defence.
What encourages and challenges you?
What is God saying to you today from His Word?

And then Pray in response – making David’s words your own

This God—how perfect are his deeds!
How dependable his words!
He is like a shield
for all who seek his protection.
The LORD alone is God;
God alone is our defence.
He is the God who makes me strong,
who makes my pathway safe.
He makes me sure-footed as a deer;
he keeps me safe on the mountains.
He trains me for battle,
so that I can use the strongest bow.
O LORD, you protect me and save me;
your care has made me great,
and your power has kept me safe.

In Jesus’ name.
Amen and Amen!
