Daily Devotions for Tuesday 12th April, 2022

Upper Room day – time-out with God

Morning

Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from Father God

Reading : ROMANS 5 verse 5

Meditation : consider this particular verse as your day starts.
The Love of God.
The Holy Spirit.

What do the words mean for you in your life at this time?

Take time to Pray in response to the LORD our God
Resting in His love as you step into this day

In Jesus’ Name
Amen.

Midday
Take time to listen for God to speak with you at this time of day
‘Thy Kingdom come’ Father God
LORD our God…thank you.

Evening

Reading : read the words again from ROMANS 5 verse 5

Reflect on the verse…. And then pray to this God in response

Lord Jesus, Son of God, Giver of rest,
Hear our evening prayers,
As we return our thanks to you.
As we look back on our day
As we trust you for tomorrow
As we now rest in You this evening
Amen and Amen.

On this Holy Week Monday evening you are invited to pause and pray with others in our church family

We are encouraged to

P AUSE with Father God as we consider His great love for us each and all

R EJOICE in the blessings He has given this day

A SK for others..for a particular situation..for ourselves

Y IELD (say Yes) to His Kingdom ways for tomorrow and the rest of this week

Pause to Pray for Others

On this Holy Week Monday…as the nation and the world wrestles with the crisis in Ukraine – a major concern before us at this time… you are invited to pause and continue to pray with others in our city and across the nation…to the LORD our God, our Father God.

You are encouraged to continue to pray for all those affected by the coronavirus – in our church family, in our nation and in our world, where many are still waiting for vaccine supplies – and for all those in need on our Church Prayer List at this time – and for the various parts of the world in turmoil at this time

For family and friends and neighbours

For national leaders across the world at this time

For NHS and Care Home staff across the nation

For those who are feeling anxious about others at this time

Holy Week Tuesday

As a Church we usually set aside a Tuesday each week and provide a place with space – the UPPER ROOM – a place for time-out in our busy days above the Kirkgate Cafe.

As we journey through Holy Week 2022, the Upper Room will be open this Tuesday 7.30am-7.30pm – and perhaps this will be a place for you to visit – as a place to pause and pray in particular for the situation in Ukraine and our world at this time. You may wish to add your prayer to the Prayer Tree – or to the Prayer Wall on the website.

* To find a quiet space to be still in a busy world as we draw closer to Easter weekend
** To pause and pray with God – the God of all comfort, wisdom, mercy and hope
* To listen to God – Father Son and Holy Spirit – in these slower days and moments

There will be opportunities to pause and pray with others – at 8am – 12 noon – 7pm – and John and those who gather will be glad to share these with you as we turn in prayer with others.

The Offering House will be open this week – do have a look in and see something more about the work of SEECAT…. as well as walking around the Church building with an Easter Word for the Today…starting at the Cairn.

You are also invited to use the bench at the top left of the Kirkyard (under the large tree – weather permitting) to pause and pray – to be still with God – to ask, seek, knock, wait and receive.

You are also reminded of the Prayer Wall available on the Kirk website under the Prayer tab – a place you can bring your prayers – and ask for prayer from the Prayer Team if appropriate. At this time of unrest across Europe and the fresh cases of coronavirus you may wish to add your own prayer.

The Daily Devotions are taking us to a daily time of considering God’s Good News with God’s written Word in the book of ROMANS – as we consider the perfect sacrifice of Jesus at this time of the year – and you may want to pause to pray with others at the start of each day. This is available on the Kirk website blog and our social media pages on Facebook and Twitter from 7am- and in the church magazine.

And – don’t forget the brief Sunday morning Reflection at 8am.

May we each and all experience time-out with the Living and True God – whenever – wherever – as we journey through these days of Easter 2022.
