Upper Room day and Evening Gathering for Prayer

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from Jesus, Saviour and Lord

Reading : LEVITICUS 19 verses 17-37

Meditation : take time and consider this part of the chapter this morning.
Laws of Holiness and Justice
What words or images stay with you?
What is God teaching/reminding you today?

Pray in response to what you have read
Taking time to pause and listen for God’s answer to you

I call to the LORD for help;
I plead with him.
I bring him all my complaints;
I tell him all my troubles.

For others
For our nation
For this world

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Midday
Take time to listen for God to speak with you at this time of day
Ask, seek, knock….hear!
Father God…thank you.

Evening
Reading : LEVITICUS 19 verses 17-37 again – in another version?
Reflect on the words…. and then Pray….to the LORD our God

I call to the LORD for help;
I plead with him.
I bring him all my complaints;
I tell him all my troubles.

For others
For our nation
For this world

In Jesus’ name.
Amen and Amen.

Evening Prayer with Others

As we journey through Lent – with God – together – you may want to revisit today’s Daily Devotions from LEVITICUS 19 verses 1-16 – as we consider the perfect sacrifice of Jesus

We PAUSE with the Lord in prayer

We REJOICE in the blessings He has given this day – to us and to others

We ASK for His presence, peace and strength – for ourselves and for others in our world at this time

We YIELD – say Yes – to His Kingdom ways for tomorrow

(thank you Church of Scotland for this image)

Pause to Pray for Others

On this Monday in Lent…as the nation and the world wrestles with the virus and vaccine supplies…and the crisis in Ukraine is a major concern before us in our world … you are invited to pause and continue to pray with others in our city and across the nation…to the LORD our God, our Father God.

You are encouraged to continue to pray for all those affected by the coronavirus – in our community, in our nation and in our world – and for all those in need on our Church Prayer List at this time – and for parts of the world in turmoil at this time

For family and friends and neighbours affected by the coronavirus

For all those hurting and fearful in Ukraine and Russia at this time

For NHS and Care Home staff across the nation

Praying Tuesday – or whenever

As a Church we usually set aside a Tuesday each week and provide a place with space – the UPPER ROOM – a place for time-out in our busy days above the Kirkgate Cafe. This is a safe place, and COVID-19 guidelines are carefully followed.
Please do remember to take a lateral flow test before you come out…..face coverings and social distancing please.

As we journey further into 2022, the Upper Room will be open this Tuesday 7.30am-7.30pm – and perhaps this will be a place for you to visit – as a place to pause and pray in particular for the situation in Ukraine and our world at this time. We are joining with 24-7 Prayer across the nation and the world in this venture.

* To find a quiet space to be still in a busy world
** To pause and pray with God – the God of all comfort, wisdom, mercy and hope
* To listen to God – Father Son and Holy Spirit – in these slower days and moments

There will be opportunities to pause and pray with others – at 8am – 12 noon – 7pm – and John and those who gather will be glad to share these with you as we turn in prayer with others.

The Offering House will be open this week – do have a look in and see the Word For Today focus on words from Romans chapter 8.

You are also invited to use the bench at the top left of the Kirkyard (under the large tree – weather permitting) to pause and pray – to be still with God – to ask, seek, knock, wait and receive.

You are also reminded of the Prayer Wall available on the Kirk website under the Prayer tab – a place you can bring your prayers – and ask for prayer from the Prayer Team if appropriate. At this time of war in Ukraine and the new coronavirus cases you may want to add your own prayer for our world at this time.

The Daily Devotions are taking us to a daily time of considering God’s Good News with God’s written Word in the book of LEVITICUS during Lent – as well as dipping into ROMANS – as we consider the perfect sacrifice of Jesus in this season as we draw nearer to Easter – and you may want to pause to pray with others at the start of each day. This is available on the Kirk website blog and our social media pages on Facebook and Twitter from 7am- and in the church magazine.

And – don’t forget the brief Sunday morning Reflection at 8am…

May we each and all experience time-out with the Living and True God – whenever – wherever – as we journey through these days of Lent 2022.
