Daily Devotions for Wednesday 27th April, 2022

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God

Reading : ROMANS 3 verse 23

Meditation : take time to consider what these words teach us
about our relationship with God
What are you challenged and encouraged by this morning?
What is your response?

Then take the time to Pray to this God, our God
Praying with honest humility

You are my God;
teach me to do your will.
Be good to me, and guide me on a safe path.
Rescue me, LORD, as you have promised;
in your goodness save me from my troubles!

In Jesus’ Name
Amen

Midday
Pray God’s blessing on Neil Harris and his family
O LORD God, have mercy and hear our prayers this day we ask.

Evening
Reading : read these words again from ROMANS 3 v 23

Reflect on this one verse…. And then pray to the LORD our God

I go to you for protection, LORD;
rescue me from my enemies.
You are my God;
teach me to do your will.
Be good to me, and guide me on a safe path.
Rescue me, LORD, as you have promised;
in your goodness save me from my troubles!

Hear our evening prayers, O God, as this day ends.
We believe and trust in You and lay ourselves before You.
Forgive us our debts
As we forgive our debtors
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Tuesday Midday Prayer with Others

You are invited to pause and pray with those gathered in the Upper Room today

P-ause with God
R-ejoice in His blessings given
A-sk for the needs of our world at this time – especially in Ukraine, Russia and Afghanistan
Y-ield to His Kingdom ways

Tuesday Prayers – and Where

As a Church we usually set aside a Tuesday each week and provide a place with space – the UPPER ROOM – a place for time-out in our busy days above the Kirkgate Cafe. This is a safe place for you to be.

As we journey further into 2022, the Upper Room will be open this Tuesday 7.30am-7.30pm – and perhaps this will be a place for you to visit – as a place to pause and pray in particular for the situation in Ukraine and our world at this time. We are joining with 24-7 Prayer across the nation and the world in this venture.

* To find a quiet space to be still in a busy world
** To pause and pray with God – the God of all comfort, wisdom, mercy and hope
* To listen to God – Father Son and Holy Spirit – in these slower days and moments

There will be opportunities to pause and pray with others – at 8am – 12 noon – 7pm – and John and those who gather will be glad to share these with you as we turn in prayer with others.

This Tuesday evening, you are invited to meet with others in our monthly Gathering for Prayer (on Zoom) as we pause to give thanks to Father God, take time to wait and listen with Him….and focus on others in our church family as we pray together.

You are also invited to use the bench at the top left of the Kirkyard (under the large tree – weather permitting) to pause and pray – to be still with God – to ask, seek, knock, wait and receive.

You are also reminded of the Prayer Wall available on the Kirk website under the Prayer tab – a place you can bring your prayers – and ask for prayer from the Prayer Team if appropriate. At this time of war in Ukraine and the new coronavirus cases you may want to add your own prayer for our world at this time.

The Daily Devotions are taking us to a daily time of considering God’s Good News with God’s written Word in the book of ROMANS during 2022 – and you may want to pause to pray with others at the start of each day. This is available on the Kirk website blog and our social media pages on Facebook and Twitter from 7am- and in the church magazine.

And – don’t forget the brief Sunday morning Reflection at 8am…

May we each and all experience time-out with the Living and True God – whenever – wherever – as we journey through these days of 2022.

Daily Devotions for Sunday 24th April, 2022

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from the Living God

Reading : ROMANS 3 verses 10-18

Meditation : take time and consider this passage this particular Sunday morning.
As it is written….
What is God teaching/reminding you today?

And then pray in response – using the words as you turn to prayer

O God of truth
We bow before you
We believe in you
We trust in you
We offer you our songs of praise
This new day
In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Midday
Pray the Prayer for the Month as your own midday prayer

When I survey the wondrous cross
Praise the name of Jesus!

For God so loved the world
How deep the Father’s love!

There is a Redeemer, God’s own Son
Thank you, O my Father!

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast
Save in the death of Christ my God

When I stand in glory
I will see his face,
And there I’ll serve my King for ever
In that holy place.

Amen and Amen!

Evening
Reading : read these particular verses again from ROMANS 3

Reflect on the words and images and then Pray in response to this God

Praise him, kings and all peoples,
princes and all other rulers;
young women and young men,
old people and children too.
Let them all praise the name of the LORD!
His name is greater than all others;
his glory is above earth and heaven

O LORD, hear our evening prayers of praise we ask
As we thank you for the blessings of this Sunday
As we believe and trust in you
As we pilgrimage on towards tomorrow
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
