Pause to Pray with Others

On this Wednesday after Easter…as the nation and the world wrestles with the crisis in Ukraine – a major concern before us at this time… you are invited to pause and continue to pray with others in our city and across the nation…to the LORD our God, our Father God.

You are encouraged to continue to pray for all those affected by the coronavirus – in our church family, in our nation and in our world, where many are still waiting for vaccine supplies – and for all those in need on our Church Prayer List at this time – and for the various parts of the world in turmoil at this time

For family and friends and neighbours

For our national leaders at this time

For NHS and Care Home staff across the nation

For those who are feeling anxious about financial matters at this time

Daily Devotions for Wednesday 20th April, 2022

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God

Reading : ROMANS 2 verse 11

Meditation : take time to consider what these words teach us about God
What are you challenged and encouraged by this morning?

Then take the time to Pray to this God, our God

I go to you for protection, LORD;
rescue me from my enemies.
You are my God;
teach me to do your will.
Be good to me, and guide me on a safe path.
Rescue me, LORD, as you have promised;
in your goodness save me from my troubles!

In Jesus’ Name
Amen!

Midday
Pray God’s blessing on Norma and all the café workers
And all who will visit the Café today
O LORD God, have mercy on each and all and hear our prayers this day we ask.

Evening

Reading : read these words again from ROMANS 2 verse 11

Reflect on the words…. And then pray to the LORD our God

I go to you for protection, LORD;
rescue me from my enemies.
You are my God;
teach me to do your will.
Be good to me, and guide me on a safe path.
Rescue me, LORD, as you have promised;
in your goodness save me from my troubles!

Hear our evening prayers, O God, as this day ends.
We believe and trust in You and lay ourselves before You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Tuesday Tuesday

As a Church we usually set aside a Tuesday each week and provide a place with space – the UPPER ROOM – a place for time-out in our busy days above the Kirkgate Cafe.

As we journey further into 2022, the Upper Room will be open this Tuesday 7.30am-7.30pm – and perhaps this will be a place for you to visit – as a place to pause and pray in particular for the situation in Ukraine and our world at this time. You may wish to add your prayer to the Prayer Tree – or to the Prayer Wall on the website.

* To find a quiet space to be still in a busy world
** To pause and pray with God – the God of all comfort, wisdom, mercy and hope
* To listen to God – Father Son and Holy Spirit – in these slower days and moments

There will be opportunities to pause and pray with others – at 8am – 12 noon – 7pm – and John and those who gather will be glad to share these with you as we turn in prayer with others.

The Offering House will be open this week – do have a look in and see the Word For Today focus …before it changes!

You are also invited to use the bench at the top left of the Kirkyard (under the large tree – weather permitting) to pause and pray – to be still with God – to ask, seek, knock, wait and receive.

You are also reminded of the Prayer Wall available on the Kirk website under the Prayer tab – a place you can bring your prayers – and ask for prayer from the Prayer Team if appropriate. At this time of unrest across Europe and the fresh cases of coronavirus you may wish to add your own prayer.

The Daily Devotions are taking us to a daily time of considering God’s Good News with God’s written Word in the book of ROMANS – and you may want to pause to pray with others at the start of each day. This is available on the Kirk website blog and our social media pages on Facebook and Twitter from 7am- and in the church magazine.

And – don’t forget the brief Sunday morning Reflection at 8am.

May we each and all experience time-out with the Living and True God – whenever – wherever – as we journey through these later days of April 2022.
