Daily Devotions for Wednesday 12th May, 2021

Christian Aid Week

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God, the Three in One

Reading : MATTHEW 6 verses 5-15

Meditation : consider what is said here by Jesus as your day starts.
What is your response to God’s written Word today?
What words stay with you?

Then turn to pray to God our Father in response

O LORD our Father God,
Thank you for all these words
And all they teach me.
Hear my morning cry
Of praise and trust
Of need and asking
In Jesus’ name, Amen

Midday

Pray God’s blessing on our Prayer Team at this time
O LORD, give blessing and hear our prayers we ask this day.

Evening
Reading : read this passage again from MATTHEW 6
Reflect on the words you have read and then pray in response – to this God, our God

LORD God, our Father God,
Hear the evening prayers of your people
For we are indeed in need of rescue from this world
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done we call out
In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Pause to Pray with Others

On this particular Wednesday…as the nation journeys forward out of this season of Lockdown.. you are invited to pause and pray with others in our city and across the nation…to the LORD our God, our Father God.

You are encouraged to pray for all those affected by the coronavirus

For family and friends and neighbours

For all who are anxious in our world at this time

For NHS and Care Home staff across the nation

For our country and our national leaders at this time of decision making

A Call to Midday Prayer

You are invited to pause and pray with others at this time in your day.

You are encouraged to pray for the upcoming election…and for Christians at this time who work in politics, the civil service and the judiciary system

First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, requests, and thanksgivings be offered to God for all people; for kings and all others who are in authority, that we may live a quiet and peaceful life with all reverence toward God and with proper conduct. This is good and it pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to come to know the truth. For there is one God, and there is one who brings God and human beings together, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself to redeem the whole human race. That was the proof at the right time that God wants everyone to be saved.

1 Timothy 2 verses 1-6

Daily Devotions for Wednesday 5th May, 2021

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from Jesus

Reading : PSALM 82

Meditation : consider these particular words this morning.
‘Rise up, O God..’
What words and images stay with you?
What is God saying to you today about Himself as your day starts?
Is there a response God is asking of you?

And then pray in response – to this God of ours

O LORD our God,
God Most High,
We hear your call
We turn to you
Call us closer
In Jesus’ name,
Amen and amen!

Midday
Pray God’s blessing on those who feel helpless in our society
LORD, hear our prayers and give blessing real good we ask.

Evening
Reading : read these set verses again from PSALM 82
Humbly reflect on what you read and then pray in response –
for yourself, for others, for our world

LORD God, Father God, hear our many different prayers
As we thank you for your call on our lives
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Call to Evening Prayer

You are invited at this time in your day to pause and pray

You may want to be still in God’s refreshing presence on this Wednesday evening

You may need to name others before Father God

You may find it helpful to read the words from today’s Daily Devotions – 1 Timothy 2 verses 1-8
